November PDM: Manufacturing Optimization
We will examine some of the key strategies, processes and behaviors in place that lead to manufacturing optimization. Strategies without processes cannot evolve. Processes without linkage to the behaviors needed by employees will not be carried out correctly.
Mining has a supply chain of its own – the natural resource is the key manufacturing ingredient in the products made at the mine site. Mine costs rely on the optimization of the natural resource from the time it is drilled and tested through production and processing. Manufacturing optimization in the plant and during the delivery of mined materials are key ways to control costs.
In this presentation we will examine how and where manufacturing can be optimized, starting with the operating philosophy and moving from mine to plant through to customer delivery. We will also touch on how operations excellence, or OPEX, dovetails with sustainable business practices as both programs are routed in eliminating waste, reducing resource consumption and limiting pollution.
